Bhanmattie Nadira Lall
09.25.1963 - 03.30.2020

Dedicated to Bhanmattie Nadira Lall

To my beloved Mother,
whose strength endured more than anyone should bear,
whose love shone through even in the darkest times.
Though your life was marked by pain,
your spirit remains a guiding light in mine.
I honor your memory, your courage, your strength, and your hope—
and I promise to carry your love forward,
cherishing the good and healing from the hurt.
You are forever missed, forever loved,
and never forgotten.

In your memory we will spread kindness and always help those in need.

How was Nari founded?

Nari was founded in April 2025, by an entrepreneur named Avantika Nadira Lall.

Both of my  parents were born in Guyana, South America. They migrated to the US, and settled in New York in the 1970's..

Soon after arriving, my Mother got married at the tender age of 16. It was an arranged marriage.

My Father was never abusive towards my Mother. However they got divorced in 1999.

It wasn't until  she began seeing other individuals, who were the abusive one's.

My Mother was just unfortunate to encounter them. Witnessing this broke my heart but my Mother always showed strength and resilience. She would always get right  back up, with a kind full heart, ready to help whoever came her way. My Mother believed in helping those who couldn't help themselves, even though at times she couldn't help herself.

In 2020 my Mother, Bhanmattie Nadira Lall, left this world at the age of 56 due to covid.

 I had just turned 30.

After loosing my Mother, I found myself in the same exact situation. This had already been an ongoing issue in my marriage.  I sat down and I thought to myself: "Do all women experience this?"  I wondered to myself, "will my daughter have to go through this?". "How can we educate women and young women about these issues." Because it is a big issue!

An estimated 137 women and girls are killed every day by intimate partners or family members. Globally, 85,000 women and girls were killed intentionally in 2023. 60% of these homicides (51,100) were committed by an intimate partner or a family member. The data shows that 140 women and girls die every day at the hands of their partner or a close relative, which means one woman or girl is killed every 10 minutes.

Nari's goal is to one day get that number to 0.

Through Nari we can empower women of all ages with education on abuse and all the different types of abuse there is.  So they do not fall victim to abuse.

It is so important to be there for one another during hard times. Leaving someone isolated could cost you their life. Do not wait for that moment to happen. Be present be there. Show up for eachother.

Help one another.

What does Nari mean?

In Sanskrit, "nari" (नारी) means "woman" or "female". It can also refer to any female or feminine object. The term is often used in a religious context, with goddesses like Lakshmi  frequently depicted as "nari”.
